Was a painter educated in the Kanô tradition, Naval officer and politician
3. Komuro Suiun (1874-1945) - Grapes and nashi pears
An important Nanga painter of the Meiji and Taishô period. Studied under Tasaki Sôun (1815-1898)
4. Ikegami Shûho (1874-1944) - Melon
A major artist in the landscape and bird-and-flower traditions. Studied under Araki Kanpo (1831-1915).
5. Matsubayashi Keigetsu (1876-1963) - Soya beans
Considered one of the greatest artists of the 20th century Nanga, Studied under Noguchi Yuya (1825-1898),
6. Yamamoto Shunkyo (1872-1933) - Mushrooms
With Takeuchi Seihô (1864-1942) one of the best known painters in Kansai during the Meiji and Taishô period
7. Atomi Kakei (1840-1926) - Flowering gourd
Important female painter from Osaka, educated in calligraphy and painting in Maruyama Shijô style.
8. Himejima Chikugai (1840-1928) - Lotus leaf and root
An important Nanga painter of the Meiji and Taishô period.
