Technique: Kyôyaki sometsuke (Seikaji) - Translucent blue and white porcelain with a hand painted cobalt blue underglaze decoration. Chachô, tea pot: Ø 4,2 - 6,7 x 6 Yuzamashi, water cooler, Ø 7 - 10,1 x 4,8 cm. Meiwan, tea cups, Ø 6,3 x 3,8 cm.

Condition: Crack at the spout of the watercooler, all others in fine
Each of the five bamboo decorations and calligraphies on the cups is different from the other.
Inscription on the water cooler: shôshi furô, “pine and mushroom never become old.”
Mitsui Hanzan was born Kagawa province. He was a pupil of the Nanga painter Toichi Ôyô. After his death he went to Kyoto and became a pupil of Tanomura Chokunyû (1814-1907). in 1922 with Ikeda Keisen (1863-1931) Konô Shûson (1890-1987) and Tachika Chikuson (1864-1922) Hanzan founded the Nihon Nanga'in, the Japanese Nanga Academie.
